EDU CAMP FARM

The Farm is located between Pretoria and Kempton Park and offers a variety of Educational Programs for different age groups.

GRADE R - 1

  • Arena show: Talk on cattle, sheep, goats & pigs.
  • Visit to poultry enclosures: Includes exotic ducks, swans, geese & laying hens.
  • Other animals on the farm:  Horses, donkeys, turkeys & monkeys
  • Interesting animals to learn about: Camels, Lamas, alpacas, emus, ostriches, iguanas.
  • Lecture on different rodents on the Farm
  • Feeding of animals: Learners can please bring along own animal food like bread, vegetables, fruit, etc.
  • A truck ride
  • An Ice-cream
  • Free tea and sandwiches for teachers

GRADE 2 - 3: EDU NITRI PROGRAM

  • Educational Program consisting of the following:
  • Fruit and Vegetables
  • Educational slide show on Aquaponics and Horticulture
  • Guided tour of the Aquaponics system, Greenhouse and fish tanks
  • Protein
  • Presentation with live animals to learn livestock farming
  • Viewing of several animal products at various stages of production
  • Carbohydrates and Oils
  • Educational slide show on food groups and nutrition
  • Hands-on exploration of food processing at different stages of production
  • Importance of Water and Milk
  • Education on the nutritional value of milk and the role of water in a balanced diet
  • Tarantulas
  • Tarantulas experience
  • A truck ride
  • An Ice-cream

GRADE 4 - 5: EDU GREEN PROGRAM

  • Educational Program consisting of the following:
  • Aquaponics
  • Greenhouse tour, explanation of organic processes, interaction with fish and plants
  • Worm Farms
  • Demonstration on creating a worm farm box, searching for worms in beds
  • Recycling Process
  • Educational slide show and demonstration on recycling processes
  • Hands-on participation, viewing and sorting products
  • Solar Environmental, Water Conservation
  • Educational slide show on Solar processes and water conservation, viewing solar setup on site
  • Learning about water conservation, pumps, systems and storage
  • Just for Fun
  • Camel Ride
